The members of Heartland Express met while all of them were singing in Calumet Corner Chorus . About five years ago they began singing regularly, although they had sung together occasionally before that time. Heartland Express enjoys performing and has song for a variety of events, such as fairs, picnics, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, banquets, class reunions, and others. Sally Radivan, tenor, who lives in Portage, Indiana, is a retired Portage Township School teacher. Irene Manous, lead, lives in Highland, Indiana. She is a charter members of Calumet Corner Chorus and is also the assistant director. Irene worked at Centier bank. Juanita Witt, baritone, lives in Chicago and now sings with the Choraliers Chorus. She has just recently returned from singing at the International Competition in Portland, Oregon, with her chorus. A former teacher in a Chicago parochial school, she now works for Sargent and Lundy in downtown Chicago. Fran Schuster, bass, was originally from Merrillville, but has since moved to Plymouth, where she lives on beautiful Lake Latonka. (She commutes an hour to quartet rehearsal.) Fran is a retired teacher from the Merrillville school system. |
